==Plot==
In separate flashbacks at the start and end of the episode, Gareth (Andrew J. West), his brother Alex (Tate Ellington), and his mother Mary (Denise Crosby), among other Terminus train yard residents, are being held captive by unknown marauders, and lamenting that they had put up signs of sanctuary leading the marauders to them. As they witness the marauders rape and kill their friends, Gareth asserts that they must become the butchers and not the cattle.
In the present, Gareth has captured most of Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) group in a train car at Terminus. Rick encourages the group to fashion make-shift weapons as they relate their experiences that led to Terminus. Suddenly, Gareth's men throw a tear gas canister into the car, knocking most of them out. When they come to, Gareth has had Rick, Daryl (Norman Reedus), Glenn (Steven Yeun), and Bob (Lawrence Gilliard, Jr.) led to a butchering room, tied and bound over a trough with other captives. Methodically, the captives are knocked out and their necks sliced open to bleed out, as to be able to process their bodies to feed their cannibalism. Gareth arrives just before Rick's group is processed to ask about a gun bag that he had seen Rick carrying, which Rick had buried outside of Terminus. Rick promises that he will kill Gareth with the weapons.
Elsewhere, Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) and Tyreese (Chad L. Coleman), who is carrying Rick's toddler daughter Judith, follow the tracks to Terminus. They stay out of a sight of a walker horde as it passes and hear gunfire nearby. They find a cabin where Martin (Chris Coy), a Terminus resident, working on launching a firework to lure away the walker horde; they overhear him speaking via radio to Terminus about the captive members of Rick's group. The two quickly subdue Martin, and Carol leaves Judith with Tyreese while she goes to help free Rick. While she is gone, a group of walkers swarm the outside of the cabin. When Tyreese is distracted by the walkers, Martin grabs Judith and threatens to kill her unless Tyreese steps outside into the walker horde, unarmed. Tyreese does so but manages to survive and eliminate the walkers, then rushes inside to kill Martin, assuring Judith is unharmed.
Carol covers herself in the guts of the walker to blend into the approaching hoard and scout Terminus. Seeing the guards panic at the walker approach, she uses the opportunity to ignite a propane tank, not only allowing the walkers in but to spread the fire from the explosion around. The explosion startles the butchering group, giving Rick and his allies time to overpower and kill their captors. Rick and the others set about freeing their friends and escaping the compound. Carol explores the compound on her own and finds and takes Rick's watch and Daryl's crossbow among confiscated supplies. She encounters Mary, who refuses to tell her where Rick and the others are kept, but pleas for mercy, stating they were good people once but were forced to change their ways when marauders had overpowered them. Carol is unsympathetic to Mary, and after shooting her in the leg, lets the walkers attack her.
Rick and his group converge where he had buried his weapons bag, planning on leading an assault on Terminus, despite the others stating that they're free and should get as much distance as possible. Rick is ready to order them to attack when Carol appears. She leads them to the cabin, where Tyreese and Judith wait for them, and Rick is elated to see his daughter is still alive. After a moment, Rick agrees with the others to forego the attack and get far away; Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) offers that they should continue north towards Washington D.C., where Eugene (Josh McDermitt), who claims to be a member of the Human Genome Project, knows of a counteragent to stop the walker infection. As they depart, Rick alters one of the Terminus signs to read "no sanctuary". In a post-credits scene, Morgan Jones (Lennie James), traveling down the train tracks, comes across the sign, and turns away, instead following a series of trees marked with strange carvings.
